Perito Moreno Glacier, Patagonia, Argentina

In February of this year we visited Parque Nacional de los Glaciares in Argentina. It a spectacular setting with huge glaciers snaking their way down from the Andes terminating into huge inland lakes. The most famous glacier in this park is Perito-Moreno. We arranged to have a guided tour of the glacier that included a boat ride across Lago Argentino and a two hour hike over the glacier (crampons provided by the tour operator). The going is easy once novices get the hang of the crampons. The route is intended for regular Joes and is not too strenuous nor dangerous. But the views and experience are quite spectacular and well worth the time and effort.
