[[green-mountain-boulder]] is a very popular destination for day hikers in Boulder. There are several trails to the top. This trail is the shortest trail to the top of Green Mountain, with the least elevation gain. The trail runs next to private land, paralleling a road for the first mile or so. The first mile is relatively flat, with a few ups and downs along the route. It offers a good views of the west face of Green Mountain and Boulder off to the east. After about 1.2 miles there is a junction with the [[ranger-trail-boulder]] on the left and the Green Bear Trail on the right. The final assent to the peak is rather steep and starts a bit before the junction. When you reach the juntion you are 0.2 miles from the peak. This section has a series of rock stairs and switch backs. As you get close to the peak, you will probably hear other people who have also climbed Green Mountain.
This is a trail that can be done by kids and people who are not as physically fit. It is pretty common to see kids as young as 5 hiking the trail. They many need help in the last section which is steep and has rock stair sections. It's a great trail for kids who want to get to the top of on of Boulders taller peaks.
