Easier Trails for Kids
These trails are easier and smaller kids can walk part of them. In addition, if you end up carrying your kid for part of your hike, they're not so technical that you cannot safely carry them.
- [[mount-sanitas-boulder]] - The Valley Trail is a family-friendly trail which can be done both with very little kids and also strollers. It is a gravel road and gains about 450 feet.
- [[mount-sanitas-boulder]] - Dakota Ridge Trail is a nice easy trail that can be done by smaller kids. It has a few technical spots. For people wanting a trail, this is a good choice, the elevation gain is about 450 feet.
- [[white-rocks-boulder]] - This is a good flat trail in the farm lands east of Boulder.
More Challenging Trails
These are a bit more challenging. There may be technical sections that are harder.
- [[gregory-canyon-boulder]] - A bit steeper with some technical sections and some steeper sections. The elevation gain is a little over 800 feet in 1.4 miles. This is a good out and back hike, you don't have to go all the way to the top. If you make the top and everyone is in good spirits, it's an easy climb to the top of [[flagstaff-mountain-boulder]] from here. Nice for kids who want to bag a summit.
- [[green-mountain-west-ridge-trail-boulder]] - For kids that really want to get to the top of Green Mountain, this is the route you should try. The first part is relatively easy, the last 0.3 - 0.2 miles toward the summit is hard because it's steep, with rock steps. There is 600 feet of elevation gain, but most of it's in the last portion.
